Salesforce is a cloud platform came to existence in 1999. Fun facts about Salesforce founder Marc Benioff, he was Oracle VP at age 26 before he started Salesforce.


Least known facts about Salesforce founder, Benioff is a natural entrepreneur, and from an early age was starting businesses. At 12 he started knocking door to door to help people repair their antennas, at 15 he sold his first bit of computing software, and when he went to college, he paid tuition fees all through royalties on software he had developed.



Here are few unknow facts about Salesforce


  1. Salesforce invented the 1/1/1 Model – Salesforce pioneered the pledge 1% model of integrated corporate philanthropy that is all about dedicating 1% of equity, product, or employee time back into the community.

  2. AppExchange from Salesforce was launched in 2005, 3 years before Apple’s App Store. Initially AppExchanged was called as App Store and they had registered the trademark. Though, in an interview, Benioff said that he gifted the name “App Store” to Steve Jobs in 2008 as a thank you for his support over the years.

  3. Salesforce has a band. They are called Apex & The Limits.

  4. Salesforce is the CRM leader with close to 20% market share.

  5. There is a podcast series called Campfire Stories which feature inspiring stories from fellow Trailblazers throughout the community discussing their incredible journeys with Trailhead.

  6. Salesforce MVP nominations are open two times a year for three weeks at a time and are announced on Twitter and in the Salesforce Community.

  7. 41% and 31% of Salesforce revenue comes from Sales and Service cloud.

  8. 88% of Fortune 100 companies uses at least one Salesforce App.

  9. There are 200,000 active Salesforce customer Orgs at present(2019).

  10. There are close to 186 million test classes in all Production Orgs(2019).

  11. There are 860 million lines of code in all Production Orgs(2019).

  12. Hammer is an A/B testing tool. Salesforce runs Hammer Test twice, before and after the deployment.

  13. In Summer 2019, there were more than 186 million test class was executed, close to 46 million failed and there were 8 bugs in the release.

  14. Salesforce takes 1 day to execute all test classes and 1 day to analyse it. They have built Machine Learning tool for these.

  15. Marc Benioff’s Salesforce has eclipsed Larry Ellison’s Oracle in market cap on 2020.



What is Hammer Test?

Hammer is a process of checking Salesforce latest release impact on existing live orgs. Salesforce runs hammer test against all the test classes present in all the Orgs before and after the release and find out the delta of difference. It takes close to 1 day to run all 186 million test classes(as on summer 2019).



Delta change= (Test Class execution(success + failure) before release) - (Test Class execution(success + failure) after release)


Salesforce has developed machine learning capabilities for hammer test for its release analysis. Though, they do not see the actual test classes of any orgs but their Hammer test will figure out the failure and success.
